Description

Delicious and quick air fryer chicken skewers marinated with lemon, garlic, and spices. Perfect for a healthy dinner, these juicy chicken cubes are infused with fresh lemon zest and juice, air fried to perfection for a tender and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Skewers

  • 500 grams (1 lb) chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest, grated from about 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
  • Skewers, wooden or metal

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine lemon juice, lemon zest, black pepper, garlic powder, olive oil, and salt. Add the chicken cubes and mix well to coat thoroughly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the chicken for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the Skewers: Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto skewers, leaving some space between each piece to ensure even cooking. Optionally, you can add vegetables like bell peppers or cherry tomatoes between the chicken pieces for extra flavor and color.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) and preheat it for about 5 minutes to ensure it’s hot and ready to cook the chicken evenly.
  4. Cook the Skewers: Place the assembled skewers in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping the skewers halfway through the cooking time to achieve uniform browning and juiciness.
  5. Serve: Carefully remove the cooked chicken skewers from the air fryer. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken breast with chicken thighs for a juicier texture.
  • Marinate the chicken overnight for a deeper flavor infusion.
  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before use to prevent burning.
  • Ensure the chicken pieces are of uniform size to cook evenly.
  • Check the chicken’s internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) for safe consumption.
