Instructions
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and apple butter until well combined.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Mix in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Chill Dough: Cover and chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Mix the coating sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Form Cookies: Scoop dough into balls, roll each in the cinnamon sugar mixture, and place on baking sheets spaced apart.
- Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes until the edges are set and the tops are slightly cracked.
- Cool and Serve: Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
