Description

This quick and refreshing Avocado Tuna Salad combines creamy avocado, zesty lime juice, and protein-rich tuna for a healthy and delicious meal ready in just 10 minutes. Perfect for a light lunch or snack, it’s loaded with fresh cilantro, crunchy celery, and a hint of jalapeño heat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 medium avocados
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 4 (5-oz) cans tuna (drained; half chunk light and half solid white albacore preferred)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 3 tbsp celery (finely chopped)
  • 3 tbsp red onion (minced)
  • 1 tbsp jalapeños (optional; minced; can add 1-2 tbsp more to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Mash Avocado: In a large bowl, mash the avocado with lime juice and sea salt until smooth and creamy, making sure to combine all flavors.
  2. Add Tuna and Veggies: Add the drained tuna, chopped cilantro, minced red onion, finely chopped celery, and jalapeños if using. Gently stir together, breaking apart any large pieces of tuna to distribute ingredients evenly.
  3. Adjust & Serve: Taste the salad and adjust the sea salt and jalapeños according to your preference. Serve immediately for the freshest flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture.
  • Mixing different types of tuna (chunk light and solid white albacore) adds more depth to the flavor.
  • Jalapeños can be adjusted to heat preference or omitted for a milder salad.
  • This salad is best eaten fresh to avoid browning of avocado.
  • Serve on a bed of greens, with crackers, or as a sandwich filling.
