Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 medium avocados
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 4 (5-oz) cans tuna (drained; half chunk light and half solid white albacore preferred)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
- 3 tbsp celery (finely chopped)
- 3 tbsp red onion (minced)
- 1 tbsp jalapeños (optional; minced; can add 1-2 tbsp more to taste)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Mash Avocado: In a large bowl, mash the avocado with lime juice and sea salt until smooth and creamy, making sure to combine all flavors.
- Add Tuna and Veggies: Add the drained tuna, chopped cilantro, minced red onion, finely chopped celery, and jalapeños if using. Gently stir together, breaking apart any large pieces of tuna to distribute ingredients evenly.
- Adjust & Serve: Taste the salad and adjust the sea salt and jalapeños according to your preference. Serve immediately for the freshest flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture.
- Mixing different types of tuna (chunk light and solid white albacore) adds more depth to the flavor.
- Jalapeños can be adjusted to heat preference or omitted for a milder salad.
- This salad is best eaten fresh to avoid browning of avocado.
- Serve on a bed of greens, with crackers, or as a sandwich filling.
