Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 8 oz Medium Shells Pasta (Cook al dente for best texture)
  • 16 oz Imitation Crab Meat (Can be swapped with real crab)
  • 1 cup Frozen Peas (Thaw before using)
  • 1 small Red Onion (Chop finely)
  • 2 stalks Celery (Chop finely)
  • 1 medium Red Bell Pepper (Seed and chop)

Dressing

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise (Substitute with Greek yogurt for lighter option)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Dill (Chop finely)
  • to taste Salt & Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Chives (Chop finely for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preparation Steps: Gather and prepare all ingredients by chopping the onion, celery, bell pepper, and herbs; thaw peas; and have the pasta ready for cooking.
  2. Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the medium shells pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and rinse under cold water to stop cooking and cool it completely.
  3. Combine the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix together the cooled pasta, imitation crab meat, thawed peas, chopped red onion, celery, and red bell pepper evenly.
  4. Mix the Dressing: Add the mayonnaise and chopped fresh dill to the bowl with the salad ingredients. Gently stir everything together until the pasta and vegetables are evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Chill the Salad: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour. This allows the flavors to meld together and the salad to become refreshing.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Once chilled, serve the crab pasta salad cold, garnished with freshly chopped chives on top for added color and flavor.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
  • To use real crab, increase the quantity if preferred for a richer flavor.
  • Ensure pasta is well rinsed under cold water to prevent it from becoming mushy.
  • The salad can be prepared a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator.
  • Adjust salt and pepper according to taste preferences.
