Unsalted Butter (cut into pieces):

Heavy Cream:

Salt:

Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar and stir constantly until melted and amber in color.
- Immediately add the butter and stir until fully melted and combined.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. Allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat, stir in salt and vanilla extract, and let cool for 10–15 minutes. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
The sugar will clump and then melt into a liquid. Keep stirring.
Notes
- For salted caramel, increase salt to 1/2 teaspoon or to taste.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
