Description

These Cheesy Taco Pinwheels are a delightful appetizer or snack that combines the flavors of a taco in a convenient, bite-sized form. Savory ground beef, gooey cheeses, and zesty salsa all wrapped up in a flaky dough, these pinwheels are sure to be a hit at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup salsa

For the Dough:

  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough or pizza dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Chopped cilantro and sour cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and salsa until well combined. Add the taco meat and stir to combine.
  4. Assemble the pinwheels: Roll out the crescent roll or pizza dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread the meat and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Roll the dough up tightly, starting from the long side, and slice into 1-inch pinwheels.
  5. Bake: Place the pinwheels flat on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Serve warm with sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro if desired.

Notes

  • You can make these ahead of time and reheat in the oven or air fryer.
