Description

Enjoy the flavors of your favorite Chinese takeout with this quick and easy Chicken and Broccoli recipe. Tender chicken and fresh broccoli are stir-fried in a savory sauce, perfect for a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Marinade:

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced

Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Additional:

  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, chicken broth, oyster sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  2. Stir-Fry Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken slices and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until cooked through. Remove chicken and set aside.
  3. Cook Broccoli: In the same skillet, add the remaining oil if needed. Sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Combine: Return chicken to the skillet. Pour in the sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken and broccoli.
  5. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot with steamed rice.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, steam the broccoli separately and add it at the end.
  • Adjust the amount of soy sauce or use tamari for a gluten-free version.
