Description

Indulge in the rich, festive flavors of these Christmas Hazelnut Chocolate Squares. Combining luscious dark chocolate, crunchy chopped hazelnuts, and a hint of vanilla, these decadent squares are perfect for holiday celebrations or as a delightful treat to share with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate and Butter Mixture

  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 100g unsalted butter

Dry Ingredients

  • 150g hazelnuts, chopped
  • 100g sugar
  • 50g all-purpose flour

Other Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate and Butter: Place the dark chocolate and unsalted butter in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler) and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Add Sugar: Remove the bowl from heat and immediately stir in the sugar until well combined.
  3. Incorporate Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition to ensure a smooth mixture.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour, chopped hazelnuts, and vanilla extract until the batter is evenly mixed without overmixing.
  5. Prepare Baking Dish: Line a baking dish with parchment paper and pour the batter evenly into it, spreading it out smoothly.
  6. Bake: Place in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool and Cut: Allow the baked squares to cool completely in the dish before lifting out and cutting into 16 equal squares.

Notes

  • Use good quality dark chocolate for the richest flavor.
  • Chop hazelnuts coarsely for a pleasant crunch in every bite.
  • Do not overbake; the squares should remain fudgy inside.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • Allow cooling completely before cutting to ensure clean slices.
