Description

A deliciously creamy and spicy Korean-inspired pasta featuring rich gochujang sauce blended with cream and Parmesan cheese, perfect for an easy and flavorful weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta and Sauce

  • 8 ounces pasta of choice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut cream
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Prepare the sauce: Reduce heat to low and add the heavy cream, gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper, stirring continuously until the sauce is smooth and heated through.
  4. Toss pasta with sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce.
  5. Finish with cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of gochujang to control the spice level according to your preference.
  • Feel free to add cooked vegetables or proteins like chicken, shrimp, or tofu for a more complete meal.
  • Use coconut cream instead of heavy cream to create a dairy-free version, making it vegetarian-friendly.
