Description

These Crispy Rice Paper Dumplings are a delightful Asian-inspired snack that offers a satisfying crunch with each bite. Filled with a savory mixture of vegetables and seasoned with traditional flavors, these pan-fried dumplings are a perfect appetizer or light meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 8 rice paper wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 small carrot (grated)
  • 2 green onions (sliced)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for pan-frying

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, warm sesame oil. Add cabbage, carrot, green onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame seeds if using. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Fill a shallow bowl with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for 5–10 seconds until soft but still manageable.
  4. Place on a damp surface and spoon about 2 tablespoons of filling into the center. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly like a burrito.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Place dumplings seam-side down and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove and drain briefly on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For added protein, mix in crumbled tofu or cooked ground meat.
  • These are best served fresh and hot for maximum crispiness.
