Description

  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box)

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Sprinkle shredded coconut and chopped pecans evenly over the bottom of the pan.
  3. Prepare the German chocolate cake mix according to the package directions and pour the batter over the coconut and pecans.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter without spreading.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes until edges are set and center is slightly gooey.
  8. Cool slightly before serving warm or let it cool completely for cleaner slices.
