Description
Elegant Blue Cheese Stuffed Pears are a sophisticated and easy-to-make appetizer, combining sweet, juicy pears with a rich, creamy blue cheese and honey filling, topped with toasted nuts and a touch of fresh chives. Perfect for entertaining or a special snack.
Ingredients
Scale
Pears
- 4 ripe pears (e.g., Bosc or Anjou)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)
Filling
- 1/2 cup (120g) blue cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup (60g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons honey
Topping
- 1/4 cup (30g) toasted walnuts or pecans, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pears: Wash and dry the pears thoroughly. Slice each pear in half lengthwise to prepare them for coring and stuffing.
- Core the Pears: Use a melon baller or spoon to scoop out the core and some of the flesh from the center of each pear half, creating a hollow space. Immediately brush the exposed areas with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the crumbled blue cheese, softened cream cheese, and honey. Mix thoroughly until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Stuff the Pears: Spoon the cheese mixture evenly into the hollowed centers of each pear half, filling them generously.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the toasted nuts over the stuffed pears for added crunch and texture. Drizzle a little extra honey on top if desired and garnish with finely chopped fresh chives for a pop of color and flavor. Serve immediately or chill before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm pears like Bosc or Anjou for the best texture and flavor.
- Toast nuts lightly to enhance their flavor and crunch.
- Brush pear halves with lemon juice right after cutting to avoid discoloration.
- Can be prepared ahead and chilled for up to 2 hours before serving.
- Optional: substitute honey with maple syrup for a different sweetness profile.
