Description

These Flavor-Packed Taco Tortilla Roll Ups are a perfect party appetizer combining creamy, cheesy, and spicy elements wrapped in soft flour tortillas. Ready in just over 2 hours with chilling time, they are easy to prepare, delicious, and great for serving a crowd.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 1 packet Taco seasoning
  • 1 cup Salsa (taco or picante)
  • 2 tablespoons Jalapeños, adjusted for heat
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups Chicken, cooked and shredded
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro, finely chopped

Assembly

  • 4 pieces Flour tortillas (8-inch)
  • Additional chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Mix the filling: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, taco seasoning, salsa, jalapeños, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked shredded chicken, and finely chopped cilantro. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
  2. Spread the filling: Lay one 8-inch flour tortilla flat on a plate. Evenly spread about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the filling mixture across the entire surface of the tortilla.
  3. Roll the tortilla: Starting from one end, roll the tortilla tightly around the filling to create a snug roll. Place the rolled tortilla seam side down on a plate to maintain its shape.
  4. Chill the rolls: Place the plate of rolled tortillas into the refrigerator and chill for 2 hours. This helps the filling set and makes slicing easier.
  5. Prepare to serve: After chilling, remove the tortillas from the fridge. Slice off the ends of each roll to create neat edges.
  6. Garnish and serve: Garnish the sliced roll-ups with additional chopped cilantro for a fresh, vibrant touch. Serve cold or at room temperature as a flavorful party appetizer.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of jalapeños to control the spice level.
  • Use any preferred cooked protein instead of chicken if desired.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour tortillas with gluten-free tortillas.
  • Make the roll ups a few hours in advance to allow flavors to meld perfectly.
  • Serve with extra salsa or guacamole on the side for dipping.
