Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 10 ounces dried egg noodles
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cans (10.75 ounces each) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 jar (15 ounces) Lay’s French Onion Dip or homemade French Onion Dip
- 1 cup crispy fried onions (French’s fried onions recommended)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking, and set it aside.
- Cook Noodles: Boil a large pot of water and cook the egg noodles following the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the noodles thoroughly, cover to keep warm, and set aside.
- Cook Chicken and Combine Ingredients: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink in the center. Season the chicken with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in both cans of condensed cream of chicken soup and the jar of French onion dip into the skillet with the chicken. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Mix with Noodles: Gently fold the cooked egg noodles into the chicken and sauce mixture in the skillet, ensuring the noodles are evenly coated.
- Assemble in Baking Pan and Add Topping: Transfer the entire mixture into the prepared baking pan. Evenly sprinkle the crispy fried onions over the top to add a crunchy texture.
- Bake the Casserole: Place the casserole pan in the oven and bake uncovered for about 20 minutes, or until everywhere is heated through and the topping is lightly browned and crispy.
- Serve: Optionally, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for a pop of color and mild freshness. Serve the casserole warm and enjoy this delicious, hearty meal.
Notes
- You can substitute homemade French onion dip for a fresher taste or adjust seasoning.
- Use gluten-free noodles and ensure soups are gluten-free for a gluten-free variation.
- For extra flavor, add a handful of shredded cheese before baking.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- Crispy fried onions add texture but can be omitted for a softer topping.
