Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 tbsp rice vinegar
- 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
Other:
- 2 green onions (sliced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp fresh ginger (minced)
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
- Coat Chicken: Mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Toss chicken pieces in the mixture until coated.
- Fry Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet, fry chicken until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Sauté Aromatics: Sauté garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in the pan.
- Add Sauce: Pour in the prepared sauce, cook until thickened.
- Combine: Add fried chicken back to the pan, toss to coat in sauce.
- Finish: Cook briefly, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
