Description
Marry Me Salmon is a flavorful grilled salmon recipe featuring a sweet and savory marinade made from soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil. This dish delivers tender, flaky salmon with a deliciously caramelized exterior, perfect for a quick, impressive dinner that serves four in about 25 minutes of active cooking time plus marinating.
Ingredients
Scale
Marinade
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Salmon
- 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil. Stir well until the sugar dissolves and the ingredients are evenly mixed.
- Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets into a large resealable plastic bag. Pour the prepared marinade over the salmon, seal the bag carefully to remove excess air, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to infuse the fish.
- Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium heat, ensuring it’s hot enough to cook the salmon evenly without sticking.
- Grill the Salmon: Lightly oil the grill grate to prevent the fillets from sticking. Remove the salmon from the marinade and discard the leftover marinade. Place the salmon fillets on the grill and cook for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until the fish easily flakes apart with a fork and has a nicely caramelized surface.
Notes
- Marinate salmon for at least 2 hours but not more than 4 hours to prevent the fish from becoming too soft.
- Use a fish spatula or tongs to carefully flip the salmon on the grill to avoid breaking the fillets.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can use a grill pan or broil the salmon in the oven as alternatives.
- Ensure grill grates are well-oiled to avoid sticking and achieve clean grill marks.
