Dough:

Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Shape and fill: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Press a thumbprint into the center of each ball to create a small well. Make the filling by mixing together the chopped pecans, corn syrup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Spoon the filling into each well.
- Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool and enjoy: Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
