Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Base
- 1 batch brownie mix (or homemade brownies), baked and cooled
Pudding Layer
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (about 3.9 oz)
Topping & Garnish
- 1 container whipped topping (approximately 8 oz)
- Green sprinkles, for garnish
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon mint extract (to add to pudding)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan to prepare for baking the brownies.
- Make and Bake Brownies: Prepare the brownie mix according to package instructions or your homemade recipe. Pour batter into the greased pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely to room temperature.
- Prepare Pudding: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of whole milk with the instant chocolate pudding mix until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes. If desired, stir in 1/2 teaspoon mint extract for a refreshing flavor twist. Set aside.
- Cut Brownies: Once brownies have fully cooled, cut them into squares for layering in the trifle dish.
- Assemble Trifle: In a trifle bowl or large glass serving dish, layer half of the brownie squares evenly on the bottom. Spread half of the prepared chocolate pudding over the brownies, followed by half of the whipped topping. Repeat the layering with the remaining brownies, pudding, and whipped topping.
- Add Garnishes: Finish the trifle by sprinkling green sprinkles and semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top layer of whipped topping for a festive and tasty decoration.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set. Serve chilled and enjoy this indulgent St. Patrick’s Day dessert.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free brownie mix or homemade gluten-free brownies.
- Mint extract is optional but adds a refreshing twist complementary to the chocolate flavors.
- Make sure brownies are completely cooled before cutting and layering to prevent melting the pudding and whipped topping layers.
- You can prepare the trifle a few hours ahead to enhance flavor melding; just keep refrigerated until serving.
