How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These bombs are best served warm, straight from the oven, but they’re also wonderful alongside a big green salad, a bowl of tomato soup, or even as a side to roasted chicken. I love putting them in a rustic basket lined with a clean kitchen towel for a casual, inviting look.

If you have leftovers, let them cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes—this revives the crisp crust and melts the cheese again. You can also freeze them unbaked for up to a month; just add a couple extra minutes to the baking time when ready to enjoy.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch log and slice into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a 3-inch round.
  3. Place one cheddar cube in the center of each dough round, then pull the edges up and pinch firmly to seal, rolling into a smooth ball.
  4. Arrange the bombs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. After baking, brush the hot bombs generously with the garlic butter and sprinkle with parsley.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and puffed. Serve warm, with extra garlic butter for dipping if you like.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

Make sure the dough is at room temperature before you start—cold dough cracks and won't seal properly. You can use mozzarella, pepper jack, or even a herb-infused cheese instead of cheddar. These bombs are best fresh out of the oven, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes to bring back the crispiness.
