How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

This casserole is wonderful straight out of the oven, but it’s also a great make-ahead meal. Serve it with a simple green salad or steamed broccoli to balance the richness. For leftovers, just pop a slice in the microwave or reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed through.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can also freeze the entire baked casserole—just wrap it tightly in foil and plastic wrap, then freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat as usual for a no-fuss dinner any night.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with onion and garlic until browned; drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the cheddar cheese soup, sour cream, and milk until smooth.
  4. Layer half of the potato slices in the prepared dish, top with half of the beef mixture, and drizzle with half of the sauce. Repeat the layers, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar on top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly. Let rest 5 minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra zing, add a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce to the beef while browning, or swap the cheddar soup for a spicy nacho cheese version. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 4 days, and the casserole freezes beautifully for up to 3 months—just thaw overnight before reheating.
