How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These sticks are best right out of the oven, but they also hold up well. Serve them with a side of Mexican rice, a simple salad, or just a bowl of salsa and sour cream for dipping. They’re great for game-day snacking or lunchboxes too.

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them in a 375°F oven for 5-7 minutes—this brings back the crispness better than a microwave. You can also freeze unbaked sticks for up to 2 months; just add a few extra minutes to the bake time.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up. Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened, then let cool slightly.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together to form a single rectangle. Cut it crosswise into 8 strips.
  4. Spoon a line of beef mixture down the center of each strip, top with shredded cheese and jalapeños if using. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly, forming sticks.
  5. Brush each stick with beaten egg, place on the prepared baking sheet, and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with salsa and sour cream.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra crispiness, use a pizza cutter to slice the dough cleanly and don't overfill the sticks—about 2 tablespoons of filling per strip works perfectly. Store leftover sticks in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months; reheat in a 375°F oven for 5-7 minutes to bring back the crunch.
