How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

This dish is wonderful served over pasta, rice, or with a side of crusty bread to soak up every drop of sauce. I love it with a simple green salad or steamed broccoli to balance the richness. For a family-style meal, place the skillet right on the table – it’s rustic and inviting.

Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container. To reheat, do it gently on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of cream or broth to revive the sauce’s silkiness. I don’t recommend freezing, as the creamy sauce can separate when thawed – but honestly, it rarely makes it that far in my house.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sear for 5-6 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through (internal temp 165°F). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, stirring constantly.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian herbs, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Let it warm through for 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra flavor, try adding a splash of white wine after the garlic – it deglazes the pan beautifully. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of cream or broth to keep the sauce silky.
