How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

Serve this over creamy mashed potatoes or fluffy rice to soak up every drop of gravy. A side of collard greens or green beans rounds out the meal beautifully.

Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days, and the flavors actually get better overnight. For freezing, store in a sealed container for up to 2 months—thaw overnight before reheating gently on the stove.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Season chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and paprika. Dredge each piece in flour, shaking off excess.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown chicken skin-side down for 4-5 minutes until golden, then flip and cook 3 more minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions until soft and browned, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle remaining flour (about 2 tablespoons) over onions, stir for 1 minute. Slowly pour in chicken broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Add thyme, bay leaf, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Return chicken to skillet, skin-side up. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook on low for 25-30 minutes until chicken is tender and sauce has thickened. Remove bay leaf before serving.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra depth, add a splash of heavy cream at the end for a creamier gravy. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of broth.
