How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These rings are best enjoyed warm, straight from the skillet—that’s when the coating is crackly and the apple is meltingly tender. For a fun twist, serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. They’re also lovely as a brunch side or an afternoon snack with coffee.

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. To reheat, pop them in a toaster oven or air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes until crisp again—skip the microwave, it makes them soggy. You can also freeze the uncoated fried rings for up to a month; just reheat and toss in cinnamon sugar after.

Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings

Crispy golden rings of apple in a cinnamon-sugar coating, soft and juicy inside. This easy stovetop treat tastes like a warm apple fritter but comes together in minutes.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In another bowl, beat milk, egg, and vanilla. Pour wet into dry and stir until smooth batter forms.
  2. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Pat apple rings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Dip each apple ring into the batter, letting excess drip off. Carefully place a few rings into the hot oil without crowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
  4. Use tongs to transfer fried rings to a paper towel-lined plate to drain for a minute. While still warm, toss each ring in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  5. Serve immediately, warm. They're best fresh, but you can keep them in a warm oven (200°F) for up to 30 minutes before serving.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

Use firm, tart apples so they hold their shape during frying—Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are my go-tos. These are best eaten right away, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in a toaster oven to crisp them up.
