How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

This soup is best the day it’s made, but leftovers are still wonderful. Keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. When reheating, add a splash of chicken broth or milk to loosen it up, since the noodles will have absorbed some liquid.

For freezing, I recommend leaving out the noodles—they get mushy. Freeze the creamy soup base (without noodles) in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat, thaw overnight, reheat gently, and cook fresh noodles to stir in. Serve with crusty bread or a simple green salad for a complete meal.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high. Add cubed chicken and cook until golden and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Stir in egg noodles and cook according to package directions, about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
  4. Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream, ranch seasoning, and cream cheese until cream cheese melts and broth is smooth and creamy. Add the cooked chicken back in.
  5. Stir in cheddar cheese and bacon bits until melted and gooey. Simmer for another 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

If you want a thicker broth, mash a few of the cooked noodles against the pot—they'll naturally release starch and thicken things up. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, but the noodles will soak up liquid, so add a splash of broth when reheating. Freeze without the noodles for up to 3 months.
