How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These cookies are wonderful on their own, but I love serving them with a glass of cold milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. They’re also fantastic crumbled over a bowl of chocolate mousse or used as a base for an ice cream sandwich – trust me, that’s a crowd-pleaser.

To store, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days – they’ll stay soft and delicious. You can also freeze the baked cookies for up to 2 months; just thaw them at room temperature or pop them in the microwave for a few seconds. If you want to prep ahead, shape the dough into balls and freeze them on a baking sheet, then transfer to a zip-top bag – bake straight from frozen, adding a couple extra minutes to the time.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add both sugars and beat until fluffy, then mix in the egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped Oreos.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set and lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra cheesecake flavor, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking – it helps the cookies stay thick and soft. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze the baked cookies for up to 2 months. If you prefer a stronger Oreo hit, use double-stuffed Oreos and don't chop them too fine.
