How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These cookies are amazing warm with a glass of cold milk, but they’re equally delicious the next day. For a dessert upgrade, sandwich two with vanilla ice cream or drizzle with melted chocolate. They also make great gifts—just stack them in a pretty tin with parchment between layers.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. To keep them longer, freeze the baked cookies in a zip-top bag for up to 3 months—just thaw at room temperature or pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds. If you want to bake fresh later, the dough freezes beautifully for up to 2 months; just scoop and freeze before baking.

Salted Brownie Cookies

These salted brownie cookies have a crackly, shiny top like a brownie, with a fudgy, chewy center and a perfect flaky salt finish. They're a crowd-pleasing twist on two favorites—easy enough for a weekend bake, but special enough for any cookie jar.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Fold with a spatula until just combined—don't overmix.
  4. Scoop the dough into 1.5-tablespoon balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared sheets. Sprinkle each with flaky sea salt.
  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops look crackly. Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For an extra fudgy texture, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking—this also prevents spreading. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze the baked cookies for up to 3 months.
