Description

A delicious Shrimp Alfredo Pizza combining tender shrimp with a creamy homemade Alfredo sauce topped with mozzarella and optional ricotta cheese, baked to perfection on a crispy thin crust. This Italian-American favorite offers a rich and savory seafood twist on classic pizza, perfect for seafood lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 pound pizza dough

Shrimp and Toppings

  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup ricotta cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Alfredo Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat thoroughly, ensuring a crispy crust.
  2. Cook Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make Alfredo Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add the heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens slightly, then remove from heat.
  4. Prepare Pizza Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough carefully onto parchment paper for easy handling.
  5. Assemble Pizza: Spread a layer of the Alfredo sauce evenly over the pizza dough, reserving a bit of sauce for drizzling later. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Distribute the cooked shrimp evenly, then add dollops of ricotta cheese if desired.
  6. Bake Pizza: Transfer the pizza with parchment paper onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with the reserved Alfredo sauce, and sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top. Slice and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Pre-cooked shrimp can be used but add them only just before baking to prevent overcooking.
  • For extra flavor and nutrition, consider adding sautéed spinach or mushrooms as toppings.
  • A thin pizza crust is recommended to balance the richness of the Alfredo sauce and toppings.
