How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These cookies are wonderful right out of the oven, but they’re just as good the next day—if they last that long! Serve them with a glass of cold milk or a mug of hot cocoa for the ultimate holiday treat. They also make a gorgeous addition to any cookie platter or gift box.

To keep them fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. You can also freeze the baked cookies for up to 3 months—just thaw at room temperature for an hour before serving. If you want to prep ahead, the dough freezes beautifully for up to 2 months; just scoop and freeze, then bake straight from the freezer, adding a couple of minutes to the bake time.

White Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies

These soft, buttery cookies are studded with crunchy candy cane pieces and creamy white chocolate chips—a festive treat that's crisp at the edges, chewy in the middle, and always the first to disappear from the cookie plate.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in the white chocolate chips and crushed candy canes, reserving a few pieces for topping.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Gently press a few extra candy cane pieces on top. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For the best texture, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking—this prevents spreading and makes the cookies extra chewy. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze the baked cookies for up to 3 months.
