How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These cookies are wonderful warm with a glass of cold milk, or dressed up with a drizzle of melted chocolate. They’re also great crumbled over ice cream or used as a base for cookie cheesecake bars.

Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days—they stay soft and chewy. You can also freeze the dough balls for up to 3 months and bake them straight from frozen, just add a couple extra minutes to the bake time.

These are the soft, chewy sugar cookies with crisp edges and a tender center that my family begs for at every gathering. They're quick to whip up, endlessly customizable, and always disappear fast—perfect for potlucks and parties.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Gently fold in the sprinkles if using.
  4. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool on the sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra chewiness, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking—this deepens the flavor and prevents spreading. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze the baked cookies for up to 3 months.
