How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

These shells are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but they reheat wonderfully. For leftovers, cover with foil and warm in a 350°F oven for 15 minutes, or microwave individual portions on medium power. If you’re meal-prepping, assemble the dish without baking, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before popping it in the oven.

For longer storage, freeze the unbaked casserole for up to 2 months—just thaw in the fridge overnight and add 10 extra minutes to the bake time. Serve with a crisp green salad or garlic bread to soak up every last drop of that creamy Cajun sauce. Trust me, you’ll want to lick the plate.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the chicken, ricotta, 1/2 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Stir in heavy cream, chicken broth, and remaining 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Spread a thin layer of the cream sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Stuff each shell with the chicken mixture and arrange in the dish. Pour the remaining sauce over the shells.
  5. Top with remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne or use hot Cajun seasoning. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months—reheat in the oven for best texture.
