How to Store, Freeze & Reheat

Serving Ideas, Storage & Reheating

These biscuits are wonderful warm with a glass of cold milk or alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They also make a lovely gift wrapped in a pretty bag.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze them for up to 2 months. To reheat, pop them in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes—they’ll taste freshly baked.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the heavy cream until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips. Do not overmix.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, pat into a 1-inch thick round, and cut out biscuits with a 2-inch cutter. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are set. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage

For the flakiest biscuits, keep the butter and cream as cold as possible—pop them in the freezer for 10 minutes before starting. Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months; reheat in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes to freshen them up.
