1. Why This Recipe Works Every Time
In my test kitchen, I’m always looking for ways to turn a classic into something a little more fun and satisfying. This Garlic Bread Chicken Caesar Salad Sub came to me on a busy weeknight when I had leftover chicken and a loaf of sub rolls – and honestly, it was love at first bite.
The magic is in the contrast: warm, buttery, garlicky bread against the cool, creamy Caesar salad. It’s like your favorite chicken Caesar wrap met a garlic bread and decided to get serious. Every time I make these for my family, they’re gone in minutes – no leftovers, just happy faces.

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and minced garlic until well combined.
- Slice each sub roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spread the garlic butter on the cut sides and place the rolls on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until the bread is golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- In a large bowl, toss the chopped romaine with Caesar dressing until evenly coated. Add the sliced chicken and half of the Parmesan, and toss again.
- Spoon the chicken Caesar salad generously into each garlic bread sub. Top with the remaining Parmesan and croutons if using. Serve immediately.
👩🍳 Chef Elena’s Kitchen Notes & Storage
For extra flavor, grill the chicken with a pinch of salt and pepper before slicing – it adds a lovely smoky note. These subs are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store the filling and garlic bread separately in the fridge for up to 2 days; reheat the bread in the oven and assemble when ready to eat.
